We Transform HOPE from an Abstract Concept to a Strategic Tool
Our Challenge
Hope, a fundamental aspect of human life and progress, is now facing unprecedented challenges. The current global unrest and uncertainty are depleting the basic sense of hope for people and communities worldwide.
As a global leader of hope research, ReHOPE is committed to addressing this urgent issue by revealing how hope can be restored, invigorated, and put to use to advance social-well being.
Our Mission
To provide evidence-based knowledge on how hope can be strengthened and used as a strategy to advance equality, democracy, and peace.
To generate novel insights about hope’s transformative powers and help leaders and strategists integrate these insights into their work.
To be the international go-to center for hope-related research and a global leader in exploring hope as a driver of social change.
Why Study Hope?
Hope is the driver of social change. However, we often don’t know how to generate it or use its powers correctly.
Our research shows that hope can be engendered and that, in turn, this hope spurs real-world action.
Identifying data-driven ways to generate hope in times of crisis will advance resilience and transformation.
Hope research can transform hope from an abstract concept into an implementable strategic tool.
Our Projects
Revealing the causal link between hope and social change
Identifying optimal types of hope
Designing and testing hope-instilling interventions
Creating images of positive futures
Expanding the Global Hope Map Project
Comparing hope across cultures and religions
Impact
Applied Approach
ReHOPE generates work that is 100% implementable in the social and political spheres. Thus, in addition to being a prolific academic hub, ReHOPE will have a substantive outreach arm devoted to disseminating and applying its findings in the field.
Outreach
ReHOPE nurtures a close relationship with public figures, policymakers, civil society leaders, journalists, activists, campaigners, influencers, and others who advocate for democracy, equality, and peace. From our expereince, many feel that NOW is the time to use hope as a strategic tool.
THE PICR LAB
ReHOPE is housed at the Psychology of Intergroup Conflict and Reconciliation (PICR) Lab at the Hebrew University.
Headed by Prof. Eran Halperin, the PICR lab is a global leader in intergroup relations research. With more than 25 PhD and MA students, and many collaborators around the world, PICR is an ideal home for ReHOPE to conduct its research and make a difference.
What We Need
ReHOPE is a young research hub, initiated in 2024 in response to the hope crisis. Many academics and non-academics have asked for our help to understand hope and provide evidence-based knowledge on how to generate hope and work with it more effectively. As we build the team and advisory board, we are looking for partners, sponsors, and supporters to help us grow and pursue our goals.
